Verizon Wireless

The following comment made by the facilities coordinator at Verizon Wireless in Bellevue gives a clear sense of the commitment of management to their program. “High gas prices, traffic congestion and air quality are on everyone’s mind. As a company we are proud to be able to provide alternatives for our employees, The CTR program at Verizon improves the quality of life for our employees, and for Washington State residents as well, due to reduced drive alone trips”.

The most recent survey results show a 59% drive alone rate in a suburban location with multiple shifts working at the company. Verizon has had an effective trip reduction program since 1995 and has offered a transit pass program since 1998.

This is a well deserved honor for Verizon Wireless.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
