The commute trip reduction program at Honeywell, in Redmond, offers a comprehensive package of incentives to encourage alternatives to driving alone. Honeywell has been involved in the state program since its beginning in 1993, and is a founding member of the Greater Redmond Transportation Management Association. ORCA cards are provided at no cost to employees who are actively encouraged to participate in Redmond’s R-TRIP program, with 37% of the 750 employees enrolled. Impressive statistics show that in 2009, 15,581 trips were reduced, eliminating 575,149 vehicle miles and 557,705 pounds of pollutants from our air. Honeywell also has a comprehensive bicycle program including covered bike racks, lockers and showers, as well as special bike clinics and workshops. Honeywell has many teams participate in the annual Tour de Redmond and Group Health Bike Challenge. In 2008, Honeywell was a Governor’s Commute Smart Award Winner, which is the highest honor in the state! Overall, Honeywell has a wonderful smart commute program that has achieved great results.
