2010 Diamond Award for Organizational Leadership

Evergreen Healthcare

With over 3,300 employees in King County located at the main medical center in Kirkland or at satellite centers in Duvall, Redmond, Sammamish, Kenmore and Woodinville, Evergreen Healthcare enthusiastically promotes all kinds of transportation options throughout their offices. In fact, more than 900 employees use their company-provided ORCA pass to commute to work. Evergreen Healthcare boasts over 200 carpoolers and 18 vanpoolers as well. Evergreen Healthcare partnered with the City of Kirkland and Sound Transit in 2004 to provide funding for a new transit center at Totem Lake to bring several local bus routes closer to the main hospital. The transit center was completed and opened in October 2008 as part of the bond funding for hospital expansion and remodeling. Evergreen's commute trip reduction program has many results-producing elements and is offered to employees and patrons. The incentive package has visible results in the community. Evergreen Healthcare strives to be a good neighbor and demonstrates this mission with its outstanding leadership. The Diamond Award is a symbol of this organization's outstanding commitment.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
