It has been a Corbis policy for many years to promote alternative commute modes, even when the company was located in suburban Bellevue. Since moving to downtown Seattle in 2003, Corbis has provided a transit pass to employees free of charge to continue its long-standing commitment. The drive-alone rate to downtown Seattle is just 10%. Corbis does not provide a parking subsidy to employees, instead choosing to focus on encouraging other options. The decision to do things differently has resulted in an effortless trip reduction program with their 200-plus employees taking the bus, walking and biking to work. Congratulations!
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration
of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant
vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
