2009 Diamond Award for ETC Leadership

Jeff Hoevet
Port of Seattle, SeaTac International Airport

The motto of the commute program is “Think Green-Go Green-Save Green” at SeaTac International Airport. The brand is important but the benefits of the program have, under Jeff’s guidance, encouraged over 500 employees to participate in an innovative transportation alternative program. The FlexPass program combined with preferential parking management techniques result in a win-win solution for employees. The Commute Office works to provide environmental and economic advantages for employees to change their habits. The use of their internal intranet site markets the inventive elements to all port employees. Making a difference for the region is all part of going green. According to ETC Jeff, who is the manager of Airport Landside Operations, the “Green Light” program has resulted in 40% growth in employee participation. Hard work, enthusiasm and dedication shows results.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
