Transit and vanpool subsidies help former Redmond worksite reduce trips
SNC—Lavalin, located first in Redmond and now in Bothell, made goal on the last survey with a single occupancy rate of 68%, a remarkable achievement made possible by management commitment to providing benefits and information about CTR for employees. Components of the plan include a company intranet site with links to transit schedules and ridematching opportunities and a work options program for employees to accommodate the use of commute alternatives. A generous subsidy for transit and vanpools contributes to success for the very active ETC, who enthusiastically promotes the CTR program. SNC—Lavalin participated in the City of Redmond Employer Incentive Program, reducing over 10,000 annual trips for the City before its move to Bothell.
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration
of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant
vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
