Employer voluntarily reduces commute trips
MSNBC is a shining example of a small employer who stepped up to offer commute benefits to its employees even though it is not affected by the CTR law. MSNBC offers Flexpass to employees to encourage them to take the bus or try carpooling despite the challenges of a 24/7 operation. The news organization participates in Redmond’s Employer Performance incentive program to offer startup incentives and other rewards to employees. The results proved to be excellent with a reduction of drive alone commutes to the office.
*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level
employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration
of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant
vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
