EDS, Federal Way

  • Kathe Hewitte, Infrastructure Analyst
  • Guyanna Young, Communications Director
  • Bob Kahan, Executive Director

Employer voluntarily reduces commute trips
EDS supports the principles of Commute Trip Reduction with a program that meets the needs of employees in Federal Way. Elements of the program include ridesharing subsidies and incentives, reserved parking, covered bicycle storage, showers and lockers, flextime, and a strong telework program. EDS employees in Federal Way have a 59% SOV rate. ETC Kathe Hewitte is a regular vanpool driver and promotes the program on a daily basis. This is the second Diamond Award for EDS and showcases the company as a leader in the region for their efforts to reduce congestion and pollution.

*Some definitions: An "ETC" is the staff-level employee transportation coordinator responsible for the daily administration of the transportation program. "SOV" stands for single-occupant vehicle, and "CTR" for commute trip reduction.
