Census data shows CTR worksites ahead of other sites

Commute trip reduction efforts at major worksites show a dramatic impact, when compared to state census data. Washington state's drive alone rate in the 1990 census was 73.9 percent. The 1993 statewide CTR survey results were higher, with a 74.1 percent drive alone rate.

But by 2001, CTR-affected worksites out-performed the state as a whole. Washington's drive alone rate in the 2000 census was 73.8 percent, while the drive alone rate at CTR-affected worksites in the 2001 CTR survey was 68.1 percent.

Statewide census date shows that carpool/vanpool and transit usage dropped between 1990 and 2000. Usage of both these modes increased at CTR-affected worksites between 1993 and 2001.
